Sumter boys rally to defeat Westwood 50-48 in OT

Sumter High School outscored Westwood 9-4 in the fourth quarter to force overtime and went on to a 50-48 victory at Lakewood High’s The Swamp.

The game was moved to Lakewood due to fire alarm issues at Sumter High.

The contest was tied 16-16 after one quarter before Westwood opened a 29-24 halftime advantage. Westwood maintained a 5-point lead after three quarters, 38-33.

Nakeem Isaac led the Gamecocks, who improved to 3-1 on the season, with 18 points. Leslie Owens added 12.

Bryson Felder led Westwood with 15 points.

Lady Gamecocks knock off Westwood 47-33

The Sumter High School varsity girls basketball team remained undefeated with a 47-33 victory over Westwood on Tuesday at Lakewood High’s The Swamp.

The game was moved to Lakewood due to fire alarm issues at Sumter High.

The Lady Gamecocks, who improved to 3-0 on the season, led 15-10 after one quarter and 26-20 at halftime. SHS led 37-30 entering the fourth quarter when it outscored Westwood 10-3.

Kiara Croskey led Sumter with 22 points. Layken Cox added 11 and Inga Colclough had nine. The Lady Gamecocks connected on 19 of 23 free throws.
